No plans this weekend or way too many plans? Either way we suggest you squeeze in watching ‘catching fire’ over the weekend.
The first sequel of last year’s adaptation of a novel by Suzanne Collins was set in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil capital of the nation of Panem which forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games which are a nationally televised event whereby ‘tributes’ must fight with each other until the other one survives.
Catching Fire dwells more on the horrors of Panem. The 74th Hunger Games are now over so Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) go on the traditional Victor’s Tour and wend their way through Panem’s 12 districts. Katniss is keeping her head down after not only surviving but outsmarting the Games. But having saved her team-mate Peeta from death through feigned (or is it?) affection, Katniss finds herself cast back into the arena when the authorities announce a Quarter Quell; a deviously super-charged tournament peopled entirely with former champions who will be forced to exterminate one another while battling poisonous gas, raining blood, man-eating monkeys, electrifying force fields and worse.
Once again, the games are on!
We’re giving the movie 4/5 for the entertainment that never seems to subside and this is one that the fashionistas will definitely want to see. The make-up and outfits are ace! We loved!
