Can’t decide what to wear this season? Here’s a style tip: wear everything! That’s right, forget what you’ve been told about style, subtlety, and soft colours. This season it’s all about showing off as we celebrate the resurgence of Maximalism.

 

This brave Summer ’16 collection from Splash was launched with an eclectic fashion show, aptly named Fashion Xcess. The event took place under the stunning Asateer Tent at Atlantis transporting guests to a whole new dimension where overindulgence reigns, and limits simply do not exist. The message was clear: don’t hold anything back this summer!

Before the event, some of MENA’s top influencers, press and VIP guests mingled at the pre-party that included a DJ churning out some great tracks, interviews and of course delicious canapés and premium beverages. . The expectations were set and the guests were led to watch the most awaited show.

The front row of the fashion show was adorned by Arab celebs and society regulars such as Aryam, Maher AlKhaja and @themarmar who cast a watchful eye as the models showed off the stunning new collection to fresh beats. An impressive dance performance set the scene for the much anticipated after party where our guests danced the night away in style.

Some key looks took center stage at the fashion show of the season. Let’s have a peek:

Mod Maximalism

As the name implies, Mod Maximalism is smart and stylish, but definitely not shy. Denim, linen and cotton combine to cater to a set of sophisticated individuals. With key pieces such as suits, distressed denims and long tees, tailored and oversized silhouettes create a sleek surety with which anyone can take on the streets.

Grunge Maximalism

Play around with your assertive side with this youth-centric statement-screaming look that’s bound to get you noticed. Mix your denim, suits, skater skirts and asymmetric dresses with embellishments, biker studs, chain detailing, sequins, net, and shimmering material to accentuate your no-nonsense attitude. Colours like gold and gun metal black will further prove your point, because honestly, is there really such a thing as overly stylish? No. We didn’t think so.
