Paradise found

As fireworks filled the air with an umbrella of blues, yellows, reds and greens, cascading down from the Festival City night sky, Dubai’s style glitterati came out in force to celebrate 10 successful seasons of Splash fashion shows.

Boarding passes firmly clutched in hand, each of the 16,000-strong crowd emerged from the entrance tunnel into the event to be surrounded by a carnival atmosphere. Once inside the open-air arena, partygoers were greeted by a terrain-shaking bass beat that thrummed and shook the crowd – they had entered the dimension of Splash Fashion Paradise.

Changing the line-up from previous shows, this Spring/Summer collection was presented to an Under 21 crowd of 6,000 fashion fans at the pre-party sundown show. The 65 international models took to the runway again for the late-night consumer and VIP show, which was followed by the Paradise After Party with DJs Kennedy and Danny Neville.

The 40-metre long “style ramp” that extended out into the crowded main arena was awash throughout the evening with a mix of vivid prints and bright tropical colours. The show culminated in Splash founder and Vice-Chairman of Landmark Group, Renuka Jagtiani, along with Raza Beig, CEO of Splash and ICONIC, walking the ramp to the acknowledgement of the crowd. The Splash Spring Summer collection is in stores now until July 2012.

Late on, some guests left the party and retuned to the real world, leaving the Spanish dancers, ethereal human angels and stilt walkers behind, while the after-party kicked on into the night.
